Top Employers Institute has certified more than 2,400 organisations in 125 countries and regions by 2025. These certified Top Employers are making a positive impact on the lives of more than 13 million employees. The prestigious agency, founded over 30 years ago in Amsterdam, is a global standard in recognising HR strategies and practices implemented by companies.
Jochen Ghyssels, HR Director of Sweco bv: “The Top Employer certificate is a wonderful recognition of our efforts to take HR processes, including Learning & Development, workplace wellbeing and the onboarding process, to an ever-higher level. It serves as validation that our HR policies match the needs of today's and tomorrow's labour market. At the same time, we aim for healthy growth and remain committed to being an outstanding organisation. We will therefore continue to challenge ourselves to do better every year and excel as an attractive employer.”
HR policies and people practices
“We firmly believe in the power of our people at Sweco, “Best People” is the cornerstone of our vision,” Jochen Ghyssels continues. “When our employees are happy, our clients are happy and our organisation grows. This positive cycle is at the heart of our success.”
We focus on creating an inclusive and supportive work environment. At Sweco, we offer our employees the opportunity to develop and grow their talents within an inspiring environment. We value diversity and inclusion, and we continue to build a working environment every day where everyone feels valued and supported.
Human flourishing through talent development
Sweco's policy is centred on truly listening to our 2,700 employees. This is because where people flourish, happiness grows. We pursue this throughout the year with Sweco Talks, an open dialogue between employees and managers to set goals, discuss progress, offer coaching and discuss wellbeing within the team and projects.
We pay close attention within our organisation to client focus, working environment, cooperation, competences, leadership, trust, efficiency and diversity & inclusion. These topics are continuously monitored and we take targeted action where necessary. Furthermore, we promote sustainability by stimulating awareness and commitment to climate targets. This is done with the help of our own Sustainability Coaches who are active within each team.
Careers for architects of change

About Top Employers Institute
Those who want to obtain the Top Employers certificate are thoroughly screened and audited. Top Employers Institute examines what employers offer their employees in terms of training and career opportunities, corporate culture and internal communication. The study is based on a hundred questions on HR best practices.
The survey covers six HR domains, consisting of 20 topics such as People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Wellbeing and Diversity & Inclusion and more. The company must not only answer the questions, but also provide detailed documentation. This allows Top Employers Institute to check them for reliability.
