On November 17, 18, and 20, 2025, a selection of young, aspiring journalists will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in current European affairs. The training consists of a mix of plenary sessions (in English) and interactive workshops in either Dutch or French. Participants will get to know the ins and outs of European institutions and gain insight into how Europe influences news and policy in Belgium.
The program features experienced speakers, including Prof. Steven Van Hecke (KU Leuven) and Rob Heirbaut (Europe expert at VRT NWS). The agenda includes informative presentations, practical workshops, and meetings with insiders from the EU world, including a meet 'n' greet with several Belgian MEPs.
For a number of motivated participants, there will be an additional module after the training: in the spring of 2026, they can take part in an in-depth program at the European Parliament in Brussels or Strasbourg, together with colleagues from other countries.
With this training, Belga aims to strengthen young journalists in their role as critical reporters of European policy. "Everyone in an editorial office should know how the EU works," say the organizers. Thanks to this training, participants not only gain a better understanding of Europe, but also build a valuable network.
The full program and conditions can be found at eutraining.belga.be.
The deadline for applications via [email protected] is Monday, October 6, 2025.
The training for young journalists is a program of the European Parliament, organized by Belga News Agency.
